No. 2 – The essential oil of pine needles

Nothing can be compared to the awesome fragrance of a fresh Christmas tree, but sometimes an artificial tree is preferable to avoid all those pine needles spreading everywhere.

In order to replicate the smell of a real tree, fill a spray bottle of water with 50 ml of water, add 5 or 6 drops of essential oil of pine, a little detergent and shake vigorously. Now, spray the tree with this blend making sure that you do not spray on the expensive polished wood surfaces.

If you do not have a spray bottle, just put a few drops of essential oil of pine on cotton balls and hide them in the tree, or, alternatively, put a few drops of essential oil of pine in an aromatherapy diffuser and use it over the region close to the tree. You can also use a few drops of essential oil of grapefruit with the pine in order to get a really cool and uplifting effect.

Black pepper essential oil has analgesic qualities that make it ideal for relieving pain, stiffness, headaches and hangovers. Its spicy, fresh scent blends well with rosemary, frankincense, cardamom, marjoram and lavender.

Recipe 1

Ingredients:

  • 3 drops of essential oil of peppermint
  • 1 cup of chocolate / cocoa or carob powder
  • 2 cup of coconut sugar

Instructions:

  • Add the three ingredients in a bottle and mix well. Divide into three cellophane bags with decorative strings.
  • This amount made me three bags of the dish, but it depends on how much you put in each bag.

Serve:

  • Add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder in a saucepan with 6 oz. (180 ml) of any type of milk.
  • Heat until hot but not boiling. Pour into a cup and enjoy.

Recipe 2 – Mulled wine recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 drops mandarin essential oil
  • 3 drops orange essential oil
  • 2 drops clove essential oil
  • 2 drops cinnamon essential oil
  • 8 glasses of red wine

Instructions:

  • Mix all ingredients in 2 tablespoons of honey
  • Slowly warm red wine, add honey to taste and mix well; turn off heat. When the wine starts to boil, it is time to remove it.

Recipe 3 – Candles

I love candles, and during the winter season, I use a lot them. Essential oils of pine and mandarin are some of favorites I like using in candle making.

Ingredients:

  • A drop of cinnamon
  • 4 drops mandarin
  • A drop of geranium

Instructions:

You can add essential oils to the candle once the wax begins to melt, usually just add a drop to the wick.

Recipe 4 – Pine cones

You can put 2 drops of pine oil on a cotton ball and add a lot of pine cones and leave this in a sealed bag overnight. Essential oils are natural so they will make the cones smell authentic.

Recipe 5 – Tapes

Tapes can be infused with essential oils for Christmas. Add 6 drops of your favorite essential oil to a glass of water. Dip the strips into the mixture of water and turn them around to soak all over and then allow them to dry.

Recipe 6 – Festive atmosphere

  • 4 drops of litsea
  • 12 drops of lemon
  • 6 drops of basil
  • 8 drops of ginger

Instructions:

Combine the above essential oils with two tablespoons of grain alcohol (vodka) and up to 100 ml of water (about 6 tablespoons of water). Pour into a spray bottle and use it as a festive room deodorant. Alternatively, for a relaxing bath, halve the amount of essential oils and add them directly into the water jet bath.

Recipe 7 – Christmas spices

  • 2 drop of essential oil of citronella
  • 7 drops of essential oil of cloves
  • 6 drops of orange essential oil
  • 7 drops of essential oil of cinnamon

Use in an oil burner or diffuser or aromatherapy bath.

Recipe 8 – Christmas Spirit

Make your refreshing, Christmas scented bubble bath or shower gel. Blend the following essential oils in 100ml of shower gel.

  • 3 drops of essential oil of laurel
  • 6 drops of cinnamon essential oil
  • 4 drops of essential oil of ginger
  • 5 drops of essential oil of mandarin

Alternatively, use a third of the amount of essential oils (no gel base) in an oil burner or aromatherapy diffuser.

Recipe 9 – Christmas Quickie

  • 8 drops of essential oil of star anise
  • 6 drops of lemon 
  • 4 drops of frankincense

Instructions:

Dab some drops of this blend on a cleaning cloth and clean the surfaces of the furniture in your room for an immediate burst of perfume in a party. Alternatively, enjoy a relaxing bath of essential oils.

Recipe 10 – Diffuser blend

  • 6 drops of cedarwood
  • 4 drops of myrrh
  • 8 drops of orange

Use in an oil burner or diffuser or aromatherapy bath. Hint: When citrus oil is used, replace the last drop of the citrus oil with lemongrass oil to give a little more power and depth to your blend.

Recipe 11 – Slice Mint Balls

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup shredded coconut for bowling
  • 2 can of condensed milk
  • 4 packages of chocolate biscuits
  • 4 drops of essential oil of pure peppermint
  • Green sprinkles (optional)
  • 2 cup shredded coconut

Instructions:

Combine coconut cookies until completely crushed. Add condensed milk and pure essential oil of peppermint until dough forms. When combined, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for one hour.

Remove from refrigerator and form consistent small bite-sized balls. Place remaining granulated coconut in a bowl and roll each ball in it until it is completely covered. Keep mint ball slices in the fridge and remove 15 minutes before serving.

Recipe 12 – Choc-orange balls

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 5 drops of pure orange essential oil
  • 3-4 tablespoons of condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons / 2 scoops cocoa powder
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 2 cup almond flour
  • Sprinkle orange (optional)

Instructions:

Mix the ground almonds, coconut and cocoa powder. Add condensed milk and pure orange essential oil until the dough forms. Add the chocolate chips. When combined, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for one hour.

Remove from refrigerator and form consistent small bite-sized balls. Place remaining granulated coconut in a bowl and roll each ball in it until it is completely covered. Keep choc-orange balls in the fridge and remove 15 minutes before serving.

Recipe 13 – Lavender Vanilla Shortbread

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 cup rice flour
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 500g butter
  • 3 drops of lavender
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Wheat flour dust
  • Melted white chocolate to decorate

Instructions:

In a preheated oven (150 C), line 2 large trays with parchment paper. Blend salt, sugar and flour in a bowl. Rub the butter until the consistency is like breadcrumbs. Add the essential oil of lavender and vanilla extract until combined. Place on a flour dusted surface and knead until smooth. Roll out the dough to a thickness of 1 cm.

Use a Christmas themed cookie cutter or some other cutter to cut shapes from dough, for example, star shape. Place on a cookie sheet. Bake for 45 minutes. Cool for 1 hour. Drizzle with melted white chocolate to decorate.

Is it safe to ingest essential oils in food recipes? I've never heard of using them in cookies. Would it be wise to buy organic essential oils for those recipes? Thanks for your help.
