  1. You know Vick's vapor rub? I started using that years ago to help with anxiety. For some reason it helps me feel like I was getting more air in. Anyways, I would get horrible migraines from time to time and I tried that on my head one time and have been hooked since. I don't even take pain killers anymore. I know this is down to the EOs in it. I will have to make a more natural blend to use. It is like magic!

  4. You know I have spent like 5 years using Vicks on my forehead when I had a headache and it always worked. People thought I was nuts but it is because of the oils in it. I think I will have to make up my own mix just so it doesn't have the parabens in it. Another great post with so much useful information, thank you!

    1. Hi Kylie,

It is up to you which essential oils you use. I would start off with one blend at a time. Fennel, sage, eucalyptus, rosemary, eucalyptus and spike lavender are not recommended if you have epilepsy.

The most effective one to use would be Jasmine essential oil. However due to the epilepsy, please consult your medical practitioner before use.

What are the other things that you have tried that don’t work?

      Regards,
      Olivia

    1. Hi Melinda,

The best oils to use in your daughter’s case are peppermint or lavender essential oils. Massage a few drops to her temples and back of neck twice a day for relief in migraines. If she has sensitive skin, please dilute in a carrier oil before application and do a test patch as well.

      Regards,
      Olivia

  9. My 17 year old gets migraines. She gets them more when she has her period and when the weather is stormy. What do you recommend for her?

    1. Hi Marie,

For lower back pain, make a blend of 2 drops each of rose, lavender, ylang ylang, frankincense, jasmine and sandalwood oils and massage 3 times per day.

Studies have shown that a blend of peppermint, fennel and ginger diluted in water can reduce the symptoms of acid reflux. Please do not ingest any essential oils prior to consulting your doctor.

  10. What essential oil mix should I use in a burner or vaporiser? Would be great to use when I feel something coming on and can still work, also needs to be safe for children

  11. I suffer from migraine that last for days, I have been to many doctors and had tests done I've never even heard of! I dont take OTC pills because they dont have any effect.
But my cousin stayed at my house and told me to try her oil, it was frankincense in grape seed oil. I am still blown away, I put it on my neck, temples and a swipe under my nose and went to bed. By the time I was dozing off it was already easing the pain! I had no headache when I woke up and it didn't come back for two days! I went online and ordered a bottle that day! And now my family also uses essential oils. You have great advise and recipes!!!
    Thank you!!!

  12. I have used peppermint oil for years for so many things but had no clue it could treat my migraines! Me and my wife both get seasonal migraines and miss out on a lot of Spring and Fall which is a bummer. Thanks o much for this! I am going to give it a try right now actually because my head has been aching. I am not sure if it is the outdoors or my neck. I suppose if it works, its not my neck! haha Thanks!!
