AMOILS (a.k.a. Healing Natural Oils) is a San Diego-based manufacturer of essential oil-related products. They’ve been in business since 2001, and have earned a stellar reputation for the quality of their product line as well as their ethical production methods.
The essential oil industry is experiencing quite a boom right now, as people are looking for more organic or all-natural ways to approach their health and wellness. AMOILS provides this by way of a solid product line based on the use of dozens of different essential oils, which are highly concentrated oils that have been derived from organic plant compounds. With well over 750,000 products sold since the company’s inception, there’s no shortage of demand for what they offer, and their product line encompasses a wide range of health and personal care items.
As you are probably well aware, I have been a big fan of AMOILS due to their excellent product quality and extensive range of proprietary and unique blends.
AMOILS Product Quality
AMOILS manufactures their entire product line right here in the good old USA (I really like that), and the plants from which their essential oils are derived are free from synthetic chemicals, herbicides and/or pesticides. Not only that, but the products are also 100% vegan, which means that no animal testing is performed and no animal-based ingredients are used to make any AMOILS products.
Their products are all-natural, and along with their essential oil content, many of the products contain well-established homeopathic ingredients that have been used since ancient times. This was one of the things that really caught my eye about the AMOILS product line, because I’m a big believer in sticking with all-natural and organic products as much as possible.
AMOILS definitely fits the bill in this regard, because one of the core elements of their corporate philosophy is to keep their products as close to nature as possible. Their commitment to this philosophy can be found in the “little things” as well – for example, their products are sold in environmentally friendly glass containers, and are shipped in plain, “hassle-free” packaging.
AMOILS have carved out a distinct niche within the essential oils marketplace due to their unique approach to product development: Not only do they offer pure single essential oils (albeit a very small range), but they have also formulated an entire product line that is designed to directly address specific health concerns.
For example, if I was suffering from athlete’s foot, I could take their H-Athletes Foot Formula, which is a topical homeopathic liquid that you apply to the skin with a cotton swab. If I’m dealing with age spots, I can use their H-Age Spots Formula, which is a serum that you can apply to your skin to help diminish the appearance of age spots and even out your skin tone.
From acne, arthritis and cellulite to hemorrhoids, cracked heels to warts, AMOILS has developed proprietary formulas that utilize essential oils as a means to address a litany of ailments, with several positive reviews on their website to back up their claims. I can confirm that I haven’t found any class action lawsuits or other blemishes on their record, and they currently carry an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, with no complaints filed against them.
While there’s no way for me to personally verify every positive review on their site, I have personally tested all of AMOILS’s essential oils and blends (except two blends, read on and you’ll see which ones below) and I can definitely vouch for their product quality and authenticity.
Price Range Of AMOILS Products
As I began researching more into the essential oils industry, I discovered that pricing is somewhat of an enigma for manufacturers of essential oil products. The main reason is that the plants from which these highly potent oils are derived can vary greatly from one species to the next, and while one plant can be found almost anywhere, another plant can only be grown in certain parts of the world. This means that the supply issues you face while sourcing one type of plant will be completely different from what you would encounter with another.
For example, you might be able to get your peppermint plants shipped from a local grower, while your frankincense plants might come from halfway around the world. For this reason, the price range for essential oil products can quite literally be all over the place.
For the majority of the AMOILS products that deal with specific health conditions, I saw prices ranging anywhere from $9.95 for an 11ml bottle to $69.95 for a 33ml bottle. Again, I’m sure that the type of plant has a lot to do with the pricing, which is also why I saw some 33ml bottles being sold for only $9.95 (their Hazelnut Oil is a good example of this). The pricing for their single oils faces a similar dilemma as well, as their Lemon oil starts at $9.95 per bottle while a same-sized bottle of Argan oil is priced at $17.95.
Keep in mind that the variables required (e.g., temperature, pressure, time, etc.) to extract oil from one type of plant might be entirely different than what might be required for another one; And of course that this has quite a lot to do with the pricing disparities as well.
AMOILS Product Range
As I mentioned earlier, AMOILS has set themselves apart within the essential oils niche by offering products that are designed to address specific health problems by name. They don’t try to “pretty it up” with fancy names for their products; instead, they stick to very straightforward product descriptions.
If you have hemorrhoids, you’ll use their H-Hemorrhoids Formula; if you can’t sleep at night, you’ll use their H-Insomnia Formula; if you need to get rid of a wart, you’ll use their H-Warts Formula, etc. While this doesn’t make for very nice-sounding labels, I believe that this no-frills approach actually helps people identify exactly which type of product will be the best one for the health condition they’re dealing with.
Now this doesn’t mean that AMOILS doesn’t offer more general health and personal care products, because they do; for example, their Simply Face Oil is designed to be an all-purpose facial moisturizer instead of a product designed to treat a specific skin problem. I could say the same thing about their Hand Oil and Hair Oil products as well.
AMOILS even offers male enhancement and female libido products (MSensual and FSensual Formulas, respectively), which are designed to increase sexual arousal and help couples enjoy a more pleasurable sexual experience (sadly, I have not tried this product yet to verify this information first-hand). Although this aspect of their product line is definitely appreciated, the best-selling products typically deal with the less “glorious” aspects of life, including fighting wrinkles, getting rid of warts and removing skin tags.
I’m a stickler for usability when it comes to evaluating website performance, and I’m glad to say that the AMOILS site passes with flying colors.
One of the things that I appreciate the most about their website was that they list ALL of their products under the “Products” menu, so that you can get to whatever product you want to look at with literally only one click of the mouse. All you have to do is hover your mouse over the “Products” header on the navigation menu, and a drop-down menu will appear that has a list of all their products in a sensible, easy-to-read format.
Not only that, but their entire website is designed in a no-fuss, no-muss style, with only the most important menu items listed at the top. They also have a blog that features some good general articles about health, fitness and wellness.
AMOILS offers free shipping for orders over $49, and they also offer a 90-day money-back guarantee to give you peace of mind about your purchase.
Their “Contact Us” page looked completely legit, with not only the street address and phone number of the company, but also a dedicated email address and live chat for customer inquiries.
I’m a simple person, and in this regard, I will have to say that AMOILS fits my personality. Their products are straightforward, with no “flowery” names that make them sound more elaborate than what they are. Their website is simple, intuitive and gets the job done. The company stands by their products via a 90-day money-back guarantee, and they’ve been in business since 2001 with no scandals, controversies or lawsuits to speak of.
For these reasons, I can heartily give AMOILS my two thumbs up.
